Kawrentin.

The legend of the city of Ys.

From his palace in Ys built near the shore King Gradlon reigned over all Cornouaille.
Gradlon was sinking into sadness since the death of Queen Malgwen his wife.
Kawrentin had converted him to the new faith assuring him that he would find solace there.
The beautiful Ahés lived with the king her father. She was like her late mother in beauty and the king was sometimes troubled by it. Ahés remained faithful to his mother’s Gods and did not understand his father’s choice to adopt the new faith.

One day there was a terrible storm that overwhelmed the city of Ys and the palace was soon under the waves. Kwarentin ran into the stables to untie the King’s horse, the mighty Morvach. There he perched Gradlon. He could reach out to Ahes and put her in the saddle as the powerful steed could easily carry three people.
A fine example of religious intolerance: he refused the gesture that would have saved her and let her perish in the raging waves while he and Gradlon, carried by the gallop of Morvach, won, safe and sound, the shore...
