C’est un énorme complexe administratif et religieux, véritable dédale de cours et de corridors qui comprend 23 temples et un grand nombre de bureaux de l’administration civile. Environ 200 moines y vivent.

The fortress of Trongsa was built in 1647 and partially rebuilt after the earthquake of 1887. It is a huge administrative and religious complex, a real maze of courtyards and corridors that includes 23 temples and a large number of civil administration offices. About 200 monks live there.
