Takuhatsu.

L’aumône/the Alms

The practice of alms, well-known in the Buddhist tradition of Southeast Asia, also exists in Japan. The monks go mainly to restaurants and shops and exchange songs of sutras for donations of food or money.

An interesting capture and practice, although in my seven years of living in Japan, I never once saw this. Perhaps it's more common in Kyoto. V.
