Ginkaku-ji.

The Ginkaku-Ji or Silver Pavilion is a Buddhist temple built in 1482 by the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa to serve as a retreat. His intention was to recover it with silver in order to compete with the Golden Pavilion, but the war did not leave him much time and the pavilion remained like we see it today. It is considered by some as the pinnacle of Japanese aesthetics.
The characteristic sandpile of the garden represents Mount Fuji.
For me the two temples are complementary, like the sun and the moon : even if silver has never covered the pavilion, the sands of the garden that surrounds it shine like the full moon.

We went there in the morning as soon as it opened to avoid the crowd that makes very difficult to take pictures. A chance for us : three-quarters of an hour after our arrival, the alleys were totally full of people.
