Punta Rassa

After hunting and photographing at Hickory Hill and around Tallahassee, Ridgway returned to the Tarpon House in Punta Rassa to once again do some tarpon fishing. He was accompanied by many of the same people that had been part of his January 1900 trip to Punta Rassa. Photo #0568 is a self-portrait of Moore that was taken on the second floor of the Tarpon House, presumably in front of his room. Also, thanks to someone from the Punta Rassa area who saw this gallery, I now know that photo #0505 was taken inside the Tarpon House as members of Ridgway's party spent the evening playing cards. In fact, the gentleman on the far left with the bushy mustache is George Schultz, the owner of Tarpon House and the telegraph operator at Punta Rassa. It was he who first received the news from Havana that the battleship Maine had been sunk in Havana harbor.
