During the week leading up to the start of the Iditarod Race there are many celebratory events throughout Anchorage. The Blanket Toss is one of those events. Adults and children volunteered to be tossed. The "blanket" is made of animal skins and has many handles sewn around it. Each of the people who volunteer to do the tossing grab one handle only so the many hands make it reasonably easy to be a tosser.
