Hovering Dragonfly

Richards Trail

Not too sure why it says the flash did not fire.
This shot was done using an side mounted SB-800 as a remote and the on camera flash in command mode.
Shot at 1/1000s f4.0 manual using flash sync setting 1/250s (auto FP) on the D300.
At this setting the flash will work with the camera (iTTL) at shutter speeds as high as 1/8000s.

other sizes: small medium original auto

The softl bokeh compliments the sharpness & colour of the dragonfly.

Dragonflies are NOT easy to get in focus because their movements are so
unpredictable. Congratulations on this shot - it looks great.

Well done. Love the challenge of trying to capture one of these in flight - even harder than humming birds - more like catching swallows in flight.
