What was planned as the Dunsmuir family home turned into a widows castle. Unfortunately Robert Dunsmuir passed away just months before the castle was completed. Started in 1887 and finished in 1890 and situated on 25 acres just east of downtown Victoria it is indeed a landmark on the Victoria skyline.
