On Guard

Esquimalt Harbour, Vancouver Island, BC

Fisgard Lighthouse was built by the British in 1860, when Vancouver Island was
not yet part of Canada. It was the first permanent lighthouse on Canada's west coast and is now
classified as a National Historic Site. The lighthouse is located at the entrance to Esquimalt
harbour and was once a beacon for the British Royal Navy's Pacific Squadron, today Fisgard still
marks home base for the Royal Canadian Navy.

I'm always trying to get a good black and white photo, never thought about the old
lighthouse. Looks really good.

Great historical details. The photo almost has a sepia look to it, as though a sharp, clean shot from yesteryear. Perfect mood lighting and colouration.
