This is a great capture. (the photo must be growing in my mind along with the bird). Penny Street

Optical illusion here folks; what you are looking at is a moderately sized seagull :-)

Wow Brent, what a capture! Those wings are huge - what kind of bird is this? Great title too! :-D CJ

Good eye. Looks like it's practicing its technique safely out of site of any annoying critics. Humor is always appreciated. Well done. -tv

I can just imagine the orchestra in front of him :)

Yep, you've got it Doug. The extender just tuns it into a 280mm lens, I wasn't sure it would show in exif when I got it- sure enough it does.

Now I get it. The 280mm is from an extender. I wasn't aware that it would show up in EXIF. -COAmature

Cool movement there, Brent.

Thanks all :-) I took a bunch of shots at the beach and had no idea if any of them would be useable until I got them home and on my monitor (the 30D lcd is pretty useless in the sun). This was only my second time trying out the servo focus mode, but it really does seem to help out with the fast action shots.
The 1.4X extender doesn't seem to negatively effect the focus speed at all on my lens Rod. The IQ seems decent with it too. It does change the balance of the lens enough that you know it is on the camera, but not significantly so. I think it's a usefully thing to have and it doesn't use up much space or add much weight to my bag.

That's a great title Brent & it looks like you used the extender. Does it focus fairly quickly?

The big movement of the wings are wonderful

Wow Brent - way to maintain sharpness and still show the motion! Love your title too! - Angioman
