The problem was low light. As I needed to catch flames, I could not increase the amount of light. S1 kept hunting for focus and it takes about 5 seconds to burn the flower. I got this one with 2nd flower with S1 set to manual focus. Will try this (or similar one) some other day with D70. -Abstract

Nice idea. The flaming flower tips are really cool. Only nitpick is that the flower seems OOF.
