Wow - Nice focus on the braces and looks painful.

Very nice Lydia. I like how you created a sense of motion with the mouth and blur of the nose, but maintained sharpness with the teeth and braces. Certainly fits the challenge of high contrast too. Best part about her getting the braces off is that means the payments are done!

Thanks Rod and Tommy! She's a hoot, for sure. *smile* I think she's getting a bit frustrated with having them on since she will graduate from high school in May (with a 4.0 GPA!!) ... hoping they're gone. *sigh*
Penny, that's a great story! ~Lydia

I was with my daughter (she was about nine at the time and had just gotten a tongue depressor thing - the precedent to the braces that came a couple of years later) and we went to Dunkin Donuts where this old woman customer thought she was so cute and started talking to her. The woman smiled and said "Oh they're just so cute at this age" Well - the woman had Only about TWO TEETH and they were Green!!!!!! As we were walking back across the street, my daughter looked up at me and said "Thank you mommy for making me take care of my teeth. I wouldn't EVER want to look like that!!!!!!!"
Oh the moments - but, no - even with that, she never would have smiled for the camera once her braces were on. You have some wonderful, compassionate kids. Good work, Lydia

Now this is getting down and real Lydia. Very expressive of the childhood ordeal that usually lasts even longer. Good contrasty bw rendering too. Now how much did you have to pay for this pose? Mine would not consider it for anything less than lifetime financial independence. You must be quite a persuasive mom. -tv

LOL, Rod. It's actually my daughter! :)
Thanks, Carole. Apparently, the clear one turn yellow after a while... so daughter went with the metal. She's almost through. *yippee* ~Lydia

High contrast fur sur! I thought they had invisible braces for kids now? I had these back in the day so I can sympathize! :-) CJ
