I think I will let this be, thanks all of you for your helpful suggestions - Debi

I like the debi red crop better, I think. But, if I hadn't seen it... I'd like this one really well. In fact, I still do. It's a good photo no matter the crop. I really like that red against the black. Quite pleasing and a beautiful capture of a beautiful child. ~Lydia

Very nice Debi this works a treat. As for other crops I have done one & put it in Pending, I don't know if I like it better or not. They just have a bit different feel to them. This one is more a straight portrait & the crop in Pending adds a touch of maybe vulnerability. I think if you had included more of the surroundings in your original it would have worked too.

Thanks Mikey, Carole and Penny. The crop suggestions were really helpful. If there is anything other way it should be done, please let me know . I have left the original in pending - Debi

Nice crop Debi - this really has an old painterly look to it! :-) CJ

Mikey, Leonardo would put the left eye on the center line. Check out the Mona Lisa. -tv

Very nice Debi, I like that you left this one in color.

I agree with Mikey about the top crop and maybe a bit on the side too, at least up to the seam of the sleeve. Lovely old feel to this - nice! :-) CJ

yeah - the child is a super image - you don't need the background colors. So I, too, think a crop would be a good idea.

Debi - This is a perfect example of what the rule of thirds can do for a shot. If you crop this so that the child's eyes are on the upper right thirds line, as well as the nose and mouth on a right side vertical third, it MAKES this shot entirely captivating! That crop takes away the distracting blue overhang and his/her left shoulder, up to the collar line. A smidge of sharpening wouldn't hurt, I think. Try it! Cheers, -mikey
