I'm a big Diane Arbus fan & very much like the look you got here. The B&W gives it a nice dated look also. Well done. Keep 'shootin' those kids, I look forward to seeing more.

whoops - image reduced and as if by magic...the shine has gone (think that was what was making the file too big?!) - claire

I love the contrast of the 'warrior' and the t-shirt sheep. :) Lovely. I think I'd clone out the bit of shine under the nose... looks like a leak. ;) ~lydia

PS. this image is oversized.

Maybe a little levels or curves adjustments could bring in some shadows here. Wonderful shot, by the way. He is soooo cute. -- Bruce

Nicely done Claire, I agree wiv Tommy about getting away from using the on camera flash. If you have some light to work with try using a higher Iso even 1600 can get good results if it's not too dark. As long as your shutter speed is about the same as your focal length you should be OK.
Nice B&W conversion too, you're becoming an artiiiiiiiiiist:-)

Very cute.

Claire, you have a very good camera. (I have the same). Now you need to break away from using the flash (the result is always flat, garish lighting, which is ok if you are Diane Arbus). The rest of us like natural lighting. In this case, the camera is so good that the result is a very good exposure in the Diane Arbus mold, but of a much more innocent subject and delightfully appropriate expression. Good b&w too. -tv

I like the 'feathers' and cute expression on the boy....
.... now is this a live bird or a live boy? :)
