This almost looks like a tinted old black & white. Nice effect however you got there. The bird seems to be in the act of some special carpentry. -tv

The grain is from the severe underexposure (tried to preserve tonality of the sky) and crop. And yes a flash would have been right to have but this was a snapshot ”on the way”. (These birds was very fast as well.) And I dont mind ”grain” either, coming from B/W film days. =) /Jonas

Good action capture. Was the grain added in photoshop, or is it a result of recovering a dark exposure? Since you were shooting into the sun, I think this would have been a good candidate for stopping-down and using flash. - J.V.
