Rolling Around With Mom

Living Room Floor

Forgot to reset the flash and left it on slow synchro which motion blurred the shot. Almost threw it away but couldn't because my grandson's face is perfect and exuberant and my daughter's was in pretty good shape. After seeing the strength in thirds, I rotated and shifted the photo so that their faces would come out on the third lines. The I motioned blurred (why not they already were) every thing else to isolate them from the background. Rule broken: slow synchro flash leaves blur image. Why this works: he is just having too much fun for you to notice much else. Rule broken: tilt. Why this works: since they were already in motion the tilt helps out. Also the tile put both their faces on the thirds lines.

You know, it's also really helped to emphasize the motion here - I feel the rolling now! ~ Lonnit

Oh, now that feels so much better. I go right to his face, then to hers, and I don't feel distracted by too much background now. Thanks! ~ Lonnit

Done. John

Qualified. BTW, a slightly tighter crop, which puts both their noses directly on the intersections of thirds, looks slightly better, as there is a bit much extra, unnecessary space around them. Your rules were justifiable broken. :) ~ Lonnit
