Thanks for the comments. Rod - your secret is safe with me.

The leaf may have been planted here, but not by me. I saw this during a tour of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden. Every single stone was placed by hand with a specific design purpose. Perhaps this leaf was too. LOL.

Nice leaf shot Charlie, and I like the contrast in colors and textures shown here. :-) CJ

The leaf looks planted but it works nicely. I thought I posted an earlier comment but it either disappeared or was not saved due to my incompetence. I said then that the leaf belongs in the pachysandra as mulch for the winter. Nice shot. -tv

The 2.8 will be too big & heavy for me Tom...........don't tell the girls:-)

Rod, you can get the 70-200 f/2.8 L without IS. The faster lens will pretty much make up for the lack of IS.
Rod 27-Nov-2007 04:39
Thanks Charlie & Alex:-) I would be looking at the F4 Alex for the lightness. The IS costs an extra $500 down here ($1400 for the IS & $875 for the non IS, grey market) & was wondering if it was worth it as it's a big expense for me. Of course it depends on what uses we need it for & maybe without it I will just have to use a tripod which I'm normally too lazy to carry:-)

Rod, I just bought the 70-200 f/2.8 IS and it's just amazing. But it always depends on what subject your going to use it. I bought this lens for low light situation in shows. It's a very heavy lens but the IS is great. I can shot at 1/10 whitout any hand shake, but it's a very expensive lens.

Charlie you made a good picture, a nice red maple leave would have make a great contrast with the green on the background.

Nice contrast with the brown on green. -COAmature

Thanks to you both. I couldn't have afforded the IS, so I can't comment on whether it would have been worth the extra cost. I have been using the 17-85 IS USM, and I surmised that the IS is worth perhaps one stop in shutter speed.

I'm looking at getting this lens Charlie, do you think it's worth the extra money for IS? Nice shot mate.
