3rd: Spikey by Abstract

Trying to portray vividness (may be weirdness) of my personality with vivid colors.

(1) Cut small pieces of two-sided tape and stick them under the pin heads.
(2) Trim the tape with small scissors so that tape does not extend beyond pin-head.
Because light will reflect off of those pieces and ruin the portrait.
(3) Trimming is easier/faster if you cut triangular pieces, not rectangular.
(4) Have someone stick those on your head. Having a good quality tape is very important.
(5) Do not forget to make it clear to your hairdresser, which side you want stick in your head.
Bribing the hairdresser with a nice-restaurant-dinner helps btw.
(6) IMP: Decide the angle of light to avoid pin-shadows.
(7) Steps 1-to-5 take more than an hour but it took me completely painless 10 seconds to get those off.

Note: Just offer a big warm smile to your neighbours if they happen to see you like this :)
Trust me, no explanation with words will work.

We'll just call you Spike from now on, Abs ;)
Thanks for sharing the details on the process of creating this fun shot. All hands on hand setups I find is always fun and gives more satisfaction with the end product. Plus, you could say it's actually real.

what a way to start Monday morning!!! Thank you all for these kind words and make my morning a special one. i am very happy to see this one received a warm welcome from everyone and you all enjoyed as much as we (my wife and i) did working on it. As I did not want to use any cloning in post-processing or glue to stick pins on my head, it was a laborious project but it all the efforts paid off with these nice comments. I have updated the details under the shot. Again thank you all. -Abstract

Nicely done Abs but it was rather silly using super glue mate:-)

This is wild Abs, and very funny! Very vivid and well photographed too - it must have taken forever to get those pins all stuck to your head - hope it didn't hurt getting them off! ;-) CJ

The credit goes to your hairsdresser. Pointedly vivid indeed. I think the difference between a good idea and a great one is usually the time spent. Excellent use of your time. -tv

Great and creative idea! Certainly more vivid than regular hair! ;-)

This is a great shot, Abs, and just too funny. I can hardly believe this is the same guy I've seen in some of your other more serious photos. Weird or not, it's nice to see you smiling. :-))

You should have used the other side to stick them in. 8-)

Fun shot.

This is crazy! I just have to laugh! Very colorful & extra points for creativity.(he said points, hehe) Good color, composition & lighting, very fun. Would make a great base for a Halloween costume or something.

Abstract, is that you? Ouch! I do notice that the pointy bits point up, but it must have hurt getting these off your head afterwards. I like the quirky nature of this shot and it really is vivid. Julie
