Whatever else this is, it's a very nice rendering of the old firearm. I have to admit that I 'love' firearms, having been trained on many of them in the '60's US Army. But I won't own them - just too careless to trust myself to have one in the house. A good friend was "careful"... then one day he shot himself in the foot. Even in the army, an "expert" but exhausted CA state trooper shot a hole in the ceiling of our company orderly room while "clearing" his weapon. -tv

Hi CJ,

good eyes my friend, in fact as you said I suspended the gun , then I cloned the shoe lace and up side down the pic!!!
for the light, as I said before, a light box on my 580EX Canon!
a good result for a amateur like me...

Interesting shot Philippe - did you suspend this and then clone out whatever you used to hold it up? It is almost surreal seeing this gun floating in space! CJ

Try myself to find a better answer for negative space, but that's all I found, maybe some more links...?
Thanks for visiting and comments.

So far I feel more confused than educated though I hope that will change by the end of this challenge. This is nice clear picture that could be used in a magazine advertisement. Lots of negative space but does the negative space have to be without detail? -COAmature

This has plenty of negative space from a drawing painting point of view but us uneducated in art photographers look at smaller subjects in a sea of nothing as a negative space shot. So maybe we will learn something in this challenge or become very confused:-)

same here, subj. is imho too large too make it a neg. space shot; also it is a great picture :o)

When I see the pics in the galleries, I am not so sure about , what people here understand as "negative space", here a link for more details about negative space!

Great detail and lighting. What was your light set up? The guns appears to be floating. jano
