Yes the original was not exposed correctly and it was very underexposed so that is why I changed it to B & W.

Left comments in the 3rd picture of pending, I like what you did and will give it a go. later this evening if I get a chance. Thanks for the tips, I am not good at layers but your tips seem simple enough. :)

Its not often we see our Sue Anne doing an ahrrty B&W so good onya:-) It looks more G&W (grey & white:-) If you click the auto contrast in PS it makes it B&W but the horse was too dark so I had a play with the curves tool & it looked a lot better to me even though the horse was dark I lightened it with the dodge tool. You would need a knowledge of layers etc to do a proper job which is beyond me. I put it in Pending:-)

This has a nice olde-timey look. Its a very difficult exposure with all the bright background; so the best approach is to crop out as much or the bright as possible to capture the details of your subject. -tv
