I didn't see your earlier tries at this Charlie, but it is just wonderful now! Absolutely perfect for the lyric and a very intriguing image! ~Sharon

I thought you might like that filter :) This is much better.. the previous version looked more like an oddly reflecting retina than a kaleidoscope.. I wonder if I'd tweak the green a little.. to a more blue'ish hue. Thanks to you, btw, for the idea. I wouldn't have gone looking for it if it wasn't for this. Funny filter.

When I first tried the plug-in, I used it on the image I had initially posted, one that already had her two eyes looking different than each other. So the plug-in merely accentuated the difference. I thought it wouldn't matter, since a girl with kaleidoscope eyes was going to look a little weird anyway. But looking again, I had to agree with you. So I went back to the “drawing board,” and made her two eyes look more nearly alike.

While I like the effect of the closer crop and plug-in, having the two eyes different looks a little weird to me but very interesting! ;-) CJ

Kiki: You were right. That plug-in did helped me give her eyes a look that is truer to the spirit of the lyrics. Thanks again for the tip.

Thanks, kiki. I’ll see what I can do with that process. In the mean time, I have cropped the image a little tighter, and brightened up the eyes a bit.

Here's something you might want to try:
http://www.mehdiplugins.com/english/kaleidoscope.htm
A plugin for Photoshop (I think this format works under PSP too, if you use that)
A quickie below: Duplicated layer, selected iris on top layer, ran "randomize" on the plugin till it looked interesting, then repeated on the other eye (the previous "randomize" pattern is the first that takes effect then)
Erased so the pupil got fully visible, then copied merged, pasted, and set the new layer to blend mode "soft light", and reduced opacity to around 30%.
