You did a great job isolating his portrait from the rest of the shot while keeping the background not too OOF that he looks out of place. A nice clean shot with good composition and lighting (be it natural, but you gotta know where to place your subject).

The eyes are good in this one! :)

Thanks Shu & Tom:-) I did take a step or two to the left so the door frame wasn't coming out of his head but the place was like a building site so I just tried to compose with what was there, it was good fun:-)

Nice pic, thanks Rod!

Matt's portrait is superb but the potted plant is just too distracting. Perhaps you could crop and clone a bit. (I don't mind the stacked pieces because they might point to his occupation as a builder, etc, and his nifty jacket and tie may allude to "a day off with pay.") It's a great portrait otherwise! shu

Thanks all:-) I did the whole shoot with the kit lens as they wanted a sort of distorted spacey look:-) I will have a go at fixing the background to night. Thanks again:-)

Wonderful sharpness in the face, Rod. I never would have guessed that you were using the kit lens.

Very good light, nice composition, good mix of sharpness and OOF. The only distracting little detail, as I see it, is the bright beam between his earlobe and the corner of the flowerpot. Quick to fade. It's not the kind of "mistake" that requires a reshoot.. this is otherwise just fine. -kiki2

Excellent b&w conversion, Rod. He looks great, nice eyes. I do find those stacked up things by his right ear a bit distracting. My eye tends to go from his collar to the top left of his head to the stacked wood and back around. Perhaps you could darken them? ~Sharon

Very nice Rod! I'm still pondering, but I think I have a new favorite out of your three Eligible pics. :-) Really good eye and shadow details on this one and I really like the overall composition as well! Well done!
