Nicely composed. I wonder how it would look with the focus on his face

Most of our squares are round Tom, maybe that's why we drink too much:-)hic

Rod, I know that some people don't like square crops (consider them too static), but I was just trying to get rid of extraneous details around the edges. I'll put another version here, and you can tell me what you think.

I agree, the focus on the guitar is very good here. Without it, it wouldn't be nearly as appealing. Well done! -- Bruce

Nicely done Mary Anne but there's something not grabbing me here. I wonder if it's the square crop.

I had hesitated submitting this because it's a different kind of portrait, so I'm glad you all like it. I've been walking around with my new (used) and inexpensive 75-300mm lens, trying to see what I can make it do. I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

I love it. Love the light on the machine heads. PeteH

Very nice Mary Anne! I can imagine that a serious musician might appreciate the focus being on the instrument. Also, to me, it gives the picture a bluesy feel!

Wonderful portrait, Mary Anne! The composition is very balanced and having the guitar head in focus and your actual subject out of focus is a stroke of genius. Great lighting and color, too! Really good work! ~Sharon
