Thanks Techo:-)

Really like the composition of the shot and how the shadows interact with the backlighting on the leaves. They have a very nice fern shape look to them.

This is beautiful Rod - live the composition and the background. You saw this well. jano

Thanks Doug & Mark:-) I'm surprised at how many of the shots I'm getting look frontlit, mind you I haven't done much early or late in the day shots when the back lighting seems to work a bit better.
ctfchallenge19-Mar-2007 03:25
The backlighting worked so well it looks like front light. Nice execution Rob but I have a feeling you'll be bumping up the creativity as always. -COAmature

In no way are the suggestions made directed at correcting "faults". Your image has no faults whatsoever, m8te... it's a beautiful image just the way it is.

Gawd Abs & Mark when you become atriiiiiiists like me you will realise that the tension faults in me shots are the very things that will make them worth lots of money when I'm dead. Having a shot with lots of faults in will be seen as a stroke of genius by coming generations of ahrt lovers............well that's wot me missus keeps telling me:-)
ctfchallenge17-Mar-2007 15:50
This image is fun to debate (and lovely). If you had "cloned out" the bottom left leaf, the image would then have your main subject in nice focus and your top right corner for "tension" and to solidify your DOF and visually bring the main leaves "forward" to the eye. Dats how it works m8te :-) It's a very appealing color and the green on green really makes this an image that is pleasing to look at (and more so without the bottom leaves :-) Markjay

add tension on top right, eh? even the out-of-focus bottom left branch is distracting :P
you cannot add tension on two opposite corners. you will rip the photo apart hahahahahha
on the serious note...i like the exposure and as RK mentioned green-on-green effect a lot. -Abstract
Rod 17-Mar-2007 13:57
Thanks RK & Gerald:-) I added clutter to the top right to add tension RK:-) ......cough....cough.
ctfchallenge17-Mar-2007 12:41
At the first glance, this may not look like a backlit capture. But for me, the shadows within the foliage come from where the light is coming so it is on topic. I like the color and the bokeh. -gerald

I really like this one...These are my first impressions:
- composition - feel that top right is cluttered.
- light control/exposure - spot on
- colors - love the green on green.

Good one Rod.

Thanks Mark:-) I will try some more with better light.
ctfchallenge16-Mar-2007 21:19
I can't tell if it's backlit or not and, I've done this kind of shot many times.
No matter, it's a nice image with nice color. Markjay
Rod 16-Mar-2007 21:05
Thanks all:-) The sun was getting up a bit in these shots about 10 am so I had to shoot looking up, sort of into the sun. The light earlier on would have been nicer I think.
ctfchallenge16-Mar-2007 19:51
Nicely done, Rod. I like the soft bokeh, and the sharp shadows across the leaves definitely make it look backlit to me.

When shooting translucent plants, it's sometimes hard to tell if they're backlit or not eh Rod! ;-) But, it looks backlit to me with the shadows. CJ

Nice shot, Rod. Haha, I've looked this over and over and honestly can't tell whether it's front or rear lit. Cheers, -mikey

Very nice Rod, but this to me looks more frontlit, is that a word? :-)
