This is really remarkable, Brent! Great colors, textures and composition. Even a little bit of action with the sparks streaking away. As Ric said, almost abstract. Good work! ~Sharon

This has a wonderful modern art look to it Brent - very abstract. I thought it was an egg yolk at first! LOL! I love the sharpness of the shot and seeing the fissures in the carbon block. It's shots like these that make me determined to buy that lens - glad you didn't ruin anything for this shot! :-) CJ

Risky shot you did really well Brent.

Thanks Pete, Ric and Rod. Indeed it is looking down on some dental gold Rod- good eye. It is sitting on a carbon block being torched and the surface oxides are starting to burn away as sparks and expose the liquid pool of gold itself. This actually got so bright it was white (especially the surface oxide) and I needed to back off the exposure a lot. I got paranoid afterward thinking I could have burned my sensor from such brightness, but it seems to be okay- whew!

There looks to be a lot of action going on here but the yellows seem a bit blown, I love the colours on the edges near the dark. Is this gold for dental work? Nice shot mate:-)
