The purpose of this topic is to view a subject from above to create an
interesting and captivating image. These images can have the feeling of
being 3-dimensional, disproportionate, fearful, sensual, scary….or pretty
much whatever feeling you want the viewer to imagine or you want to
articulate through the image.
Obviously shallow DOF and the rule of thirds can play a major impact on this
challenge, but not necessarily so. It will be up to you to use DOF and the
rule of thirds to your advantage but more importantly your imagination. The
main objective is to point your camera downward. I won’t get into specifics
on what degree is “down”… obviously it will be the viewer’s view and their
sense of the feeling the image conveys that will determine the impact of the
image and of this challenge. Definitely it should give the impression of an
above view. I hope my header images will give you an idea of what this
challenge will be about.
Do not hold back on your creativity – make it subtle, make it shocking…but
make it a view from above.
