Carole made me clean it up:-) Thanks Henry.
Henry Dondi 11-Sep-2006 15:16
Cleanest drain hole I've ever seen! :) Great photo.
Rod 10-Sep-2006 09:05
Thank you Brent from Carole & me:-)
Brent 09-Sep-2006 16:41
Everything so well lined up and the color of those dried leaves looks very real to me. I think I can see Paul peering up from the Shadows in this one ;-) Nice image made from such an ordinary thing Rod.
Rod 09-Sep-2006 03:43
Great I can have the weekend off:-)............................Wot was that Mereana!!
ctfchallenge08-Sep-2006 12:07
Nope - Looks good to me! ;-) CJ
Rod 08-Sep-2006 06:54
There you go Carole, less blue & more contrast...........................Anything bleeding else:-)
Rod 07-Sep-2006 19:36
Geez Carole, the missus made me cook dinner last night & you want me to do more work. Will have a look tonight:-)
ctfchallenge07-Sep-2006 11:09
Who wants to run a challenge - too much work! Now, had you thought of decreasing the blue a little and bumping up the contrast a tad to whiten the grate and bring out the texture and darken the muck in the drain? CJ
Rod 06-Sep-2006 07:10
Thanks Carole:-) If this wins then you can run the next challenge as it was you who turned a sow's ear into a silk purse:-)
ctfchallenge05-Sep-2006 21:01
I like it Rod. I thought the dark borders on the bottom and sides looked nice if they were about the same size so that's what I was trying to achieve with the crops I did - glad you liked it too. I know some people don't like lines running off the page but it really doesn't bother me with this shot as the eye is definitely drawn to the leaves.
Looks like a winner Mate! CJ
ctfchallenge05-Sep-2006 19:51
Oh Carole here I am logging on for 5 min before going work with me cuppa tea & you have me PP a picy:-) I liked your crop a lot better even though it looks more nice & girly:-)
I cropped from the original so it's still 700 pixels on the long side, do you think it's OK like that or should it have the aspect ratio of the crop you did from the low res posted picy?
I will do a bit of burning in when I get home.
Thanks mate:-)
ctfchallenge05-Sep-2006 15:56
Oh Rod, BTW, I thought a little different crop might look good and draw attention to the leaves as that little bit of white rail on the top and left still seems distracting to my eye. Here are 2 different looks. What do you think?

Thank you ladies................& Carole:-)
I tried the shot with more of the top rail in & it seemed to diminish the leaves in the composition, I've darkened the road down too. Thanks again girls:-)..................& Carole:-)
Rod 05-Sep-2006 07:34
Aw bugger off Y......... drains are blokes shots, why don't you find a girly shot like a yellow daisy or something::-)
You should see the mental image I have of you exploring drains:-)
Make sure you take the lens cap off well away from the drain, not that I dropped mine in of course but a girl might:-)
ctfchallenge05-Sep-2006 06:33
Hi Rod, I really like this shot and number three. The sidewalk gives some perspective. I think I need a similiar anchor in the dish basket shot, it does not give the real sense of a downward focus like you have here. I went looking for drains today just because of these two of yours. (show off) Yvonne (smile)
janewigginsphotography04-Sep-2006 22:42
Yes, Rod - I mean burn the sidewalk area on the right That can be done many different ways. I don't mind the top crop at all - for me it keeps my eye on the bottom right. In fact, you might play with a little crop on the left if you so wished. In any event - very nicely composed. The contrast is very nice. jano

Good color and composition in this one, Rod.

I like this Rod but agree with both Jano and CJ. Try darkening the sidewalk and including more of the top bar. The color of the leaves in this is wonderful and they would stand out even better if the sidewalk behind them were darker. Well seen! ~Sharon
ctfchallenge04-Sep-2006 20:03
I like this one Rod with the nice color contrasts. You could burn the sidewalk but it doesn't bother me much as is. I think I might like to see a little more of the white rail on top though to help frame the picture a little more. Nice one! CJ
Rod 04-Sep-2006 19:55
Thanks Jano:-) Do you mean clone part of the dark area into the sidewalk or crop it out altogether? I could burn it in too if it's a distraction, I'm not sure if the leaves can go any further to the right.
janewigginsphotography04-Sep-2006 16:25
Really nice Rod - I like the little pile of brush on the lower right. For me I would have probably taken the pp a little further and cloned out the right sidewalk area to match the depth of dark between the rails. Great eye. jano
