As for the lighting: Using the ST-E2 speedlite transmitter, I positioned the flash so that its beam hit the flower from the lower right. Probably the use of flash is the reason for the unnaturally hard look of the stamens with the anthers (don't remember the correct terminology even in my own native language not to mention that I have no idea of the English translations; fortunately there is Wikipedia in several languages). Natural lighting would have been much better for a flower pic but we do not have much sunny hours here at present.

Curious to know how this was lit Gerald. Being a keen gardener I should know what those polleny things are called but for the life of me I can't remember (getting bloody old!). They look like little nuggets of gold. Impressive, I like it.

Well done Gerald this has the makings of a great looking shot but it has the looks of being over sharpened. I like me flowers to look soft & cuddly:-)
