Thanks guys. Cat, my gallery has a couple photos of them all in bloom. They are really pretty and they are all over the place!

Very nicely captured. The color and contrast is really wonderful here.

Thanks for the comments guys. Agapanthus sounds right and your description sounds right. People tell me these names and then I forget them. This one is a bit darker than the ones I'm looking at out my window and the stalk description is perfect. But we don't have such unruly kids here... :() this is a college campus after all. :)

Also, thanks aam for the reassurance. Needed it this week. Of course I don't mind you checking out my gallery. That's what it's there for!

Hi Christina, I took a quick look at your pbase gallery (from the link in your other photo, hope you don't mind). You have some wonderful photos there. And some of the flower pics seem remarkably similar to some of mine... great minds think alike :)

It's time to stop selling yourself short, you are a capable photographer if you ask me. Good work.

It looks like an Agapanthus to me although it's atouch darker than the blue we get here in Sydney (we also get white flowered versions) They grow from a base of rather strappy long green leaves and shoot up flowerheads about 3 foot high like a small football. Kids love to pull the heads off or chop them off with a stick:>) I could be very wrong though, it could be an onion or leek gone to seed as they looke like this too.

Paul knows plants more than we do but I think it's a bunch of tulips:-)

It's a stucco wall of one of the apartment buildings.
