Once a Century*

Southern California

OK, maybe not really once a century, really it's once every 25 years. But it is called a century plant. There are several currently blooming here. It's exciting as it doesn't happen that often!

Simple and effective. At first I have thought that this is some metal sculpture

Thanks for this informative entry Christina. Now, I know something new. I surely will keep an eye on your web-site gallery. -Abstract

These are buds. The blossoms should be pretty big. The stalks are about 10-12 feet high right now, and I'm not sure if they're done growing upwards. I have a gallery that has shots of this as it's progressing. I'm going to keep it updated the best I can. There are four in bloom right now and I walk by them every couple days so I hope to get a nice series.

And thanks for the compliments!

Very unusual Christina - it looks like a clothes pole! Are those buds or is that as much of a blossom as it gets? I'd love to see one of these. Nice shot. :-) CJ
