Jano, that is exactly how I understood your comment :-) It made me think about how powerful a flash would have to be in order to light up the moon. Of course, a device like this does not exist. Now Rod makes me think about how many stadiums must be put together for the distance to the moon :-)
The script on PBase acts a little strange. The link "full exif" below the image will always be displayed as soon as the field "technical information" in the upload form is not empty, regardless whether there is EXIF data in the image file or not. But if you follow the link, the EXIF table will always be empty (except "flash not used") if the original file did not contain any EXIF information. -
Technically, I did nothing really special other than using a tripod and mirror lockup for the shot. Workflow as usual: Converted from RAW with ACR, no sharpening, postprocessing in CS2 (crop, levels, curves, color correction, smart sharpen, resize, smart sharpen again with radius 0.1 or 0.2).
EXIF data from the original file:
ExposureTime - 1/4 seconds
FNumber - 16
ISOSpeedRatings - 100
DateTimeOriginal - 2006:02:03 18:36:06
CompressedBitsPerPixel - 9 (bits/pixel)
ExposureBiasValue - 0.00
MeteringMode - Partial
Flash - Not fired
FocalLength - 400 mm (+ extender 1.4x)
ColorSpace - sRGB
ExposureMode - Manual
WhiteBalance - Auto
Focus type - Auto

If the flash works in big stadiums it must work on the moon...............I think:-)

Obviously I was just joking lol :) I was expecting some unique exif data and just got "no flash used" so I was just laughing. I could never beging to take a shot like this - i'm sure there is much technical expertise to this than just "no flash" hehe. love it jano

I was gonna say....how the heck would you use a flash on the moon??? Britt

Thanks, RK, Jano and Rod. If my calculations are right,a flash with guide number 6,000,000,000 would be required in order to shoot the moon with f/16. Too expensive for me, so I have used natural light only.

Jano it would be far more impressive if Gerald used the flash as fill to get some detail in the darker areas:-)
This is one of the only moon shots I've seen that makes for a good picy, very well done Gerald excellent shot mate.
