20-JAN-2006 Neo

Yellow Ledbetter *

Raleigh, NC

Can you see them
Out on the porch
But they don’t wave
I see them round the front way yeah
And I know I don’t want to stay...

Make me cry

Very nice. Can't find a single thing wrong here. :)

Nice shot Neo, I love the clear yellow ribbon and the "extras in the background"
May everyone hurry home. Yvonne

How that Techo flatters, don't ya feel good Neo:-)

Really well done. I saw the first version and you've done a great job patching it up.
Of course you had a great shot to start of with :)

Well done Neo, I think all your work has paid off mate its looking very good now. Well done:-)

OK - I pumped up the contrast and took care not to blow out the highlights any further, and I really like the results. Thanks for the help!
Rod 21-Jan-2006 07:41
As Mary Anne said thats a lot better Neo, & I can even say that the one highlight doesn't bother me on this shot. Try the girls suggestions & you have a really nice shot, well done Neo:-)

Neo - i didn't see the first version so cannot comment on this image improvement wise. There is one blown highlight but i think it could easily be reduced in PS. I think this is a lovely image. I agree with Mary Anne that I would perhaps do something to make the yellow stand out just a tad bit more on the left of the ribbon. Wonderful concept you have here!!! jano

Actually, I think I'd increase the contrast a bit so the ribbon stands out better.

It looks much better, Neo...but Rod will still get you on those blown highlights.

I reduced the exposure - let me know if it looks better - thanks again. - Neo

Thanks Rod and Mary Anne for the feedback. It's in RAW format so I will see if I can tweak the exposure -- if not I can always go back and shoot it again - although the home owner might wonder why someone is so fascinated by her ribbons :-)
Good guess on the title Mary Anne - it is a Pearl Jam song with fairly cryptic lyrics. Ledbetter was a blues singer so presumably in the song something yellow is giving him the blues...

I agree with Rod. If it's in your neighborhood, maybe you could go back and take the shot again with different exposure. Also, I don't understand the title. Does it refer to some musical group?

Nicely composed Neo, but just watch for the blown highlights (the pure white) on the ribbon. It's normally best to expose for the brightest part of the scene then recompose & get the shot. I think you have a button on your G6 that locks the exposure so you can recompose focus & shoot.
The brain will accept dark shadows but not blown highlights so it's best to expose on the highlights. Well done mate:-)
