Rivendell *

Lord of the Rings

Rivendell is hidden away in a deep valley in the foothills of the misty mountains. It is set amongst woodlands, foaming rivers, waterfalls, and feels like an idyllic refuge and also has a slightly melancholic afterglow, enhanced by the autumnal color, drifting leaves and the detached air of its inhabitants.

Thanks to all for such kind comments! My favorite parts of this image was the limb circling the highlight of the river, the extended branches of that same limb reaching out to the left and right, also the shadows on the water. Glad you like it. jano

Jano, This is a really well done (shot/processed) It does remind me of the magical lands. I really like the added curves in the composition as well. I am committed to learning PS this year, not to build shots but to have creative freedom that comes out cool like this one. Yvonne

It has kind of a hazy, memory look to it. Very nice, Jano.

I agree Lee as I always ask Jano to marry me when she posts a great shot & I've now lost count of how many times we've been married:-)
This shot I really like it has a really nice look, it seems you have just stopped processing in time as it all holds together nicely. The danger of processing is being able to see the processing before seeing the shot which is not the case here. Very well done Jano.

Why thanks Lee! I appreciate your kind thoughts, and coming from you is quite a compliment. This spot, I think, is a favorite of mine in the woods near my home. Just got fresh snow and in fact snowing when I took this. I thought I would add a fairy-like surreal look as the image had a surreal look anyway, dreary, and although in color was b&w in appearance. When done, it reminded me of Rivendell, from a movie I can't get enough of :). jano
