One Makes A Run *

New interpretation - sometimes what we see in a dim lighted smokey corner of the bar with a light over the table. All you need is one. Not artsy but just my interpretation of what one card can mean to a player. I also tried to make this less flat as opposed to my other interpretation of the subject. jano

I have an idea on how the shadows are done in this shot, but will remain hush hush ;) could easily be done without PS. Clever Jano.

No, the spotlight filter in PS did not cause the shadows. It's like when you're playing cards in a dimly lit bar room (or anywhere for that matter) when the cards you need all of a sudden "pop" out of you. At least they do for me cause i'm not much good at cards as a rule. :) jano

How did the cards throw a shadow laying flat on a table? I thought you used a spotlight filter in PS which caused the shadow.

I like how the light highlights the card
janewigginsphotography03-Nov-2005 19:46
Rod - but it is not a PS drop shadow but a real shadow taken with a real camera with real cards. The PS is lighting and contrast (again). jano

Less flat than the first shot is good, but now the cards with the sort of drop shadow are floating in mid air making this look like a graphic. So it's a nice graphic & a yuck photo. Know wot I mean then:-)

me four! the cards look as if they're hovering off the table.

I like this one much better too Jano. Nice job.

Wow, thanks Abs!!! Your comments were an inspiration to try something different - sometimes we all need that "push"... :) I hope the film grain and contrast comes across as something that isn't so neat and tight, but more of a bar atmosphere which was my intent. jano

now thats more like it. you just added the needed depth element to the shot. this is EXACTLY what i had in my mind, when i mentioned the 'flatness' in your earlier shot. excellent. i am impressed. -Abstract
