The people in the distance were so far ahead here that you're as good as alone - the cold and fog and the silence all around added to the feeling of isolation at the time. This shot was almost directly into the low sun - immediately out of the left edge of the photo- so framing from slightly to the right was not really an option at the time.
Despite all the tracks in the snow and the faint figures in the distance, you do get a sense of being alone with the cold. Brrr! Too bad the shot wasn't taken a little to the right so that there wouldn't be any other people visible.
