Scintillating Time *

it was fun to finally get the focus right (especially difficult with the close-up lens) and avoid light reflections from important parts of the image.

btw if anybody missed my earlier attempt with this prop, this hourglass is embedded in a glass cube.

Thank you Alexeig.
Techo, if i was able to make your eyes travel through the bottom half...then i will call the play on dof a success. thanks a lot for your comment. btw its just sand/salt. its lighting and selected-sharpening that make it look like crystals.
Rentasmo, this is also some cheapo hourglass. a freebie from a career-fair :) btw i intentionally kept it tilted so that i can play with dof a little (also adds a dynamic element) and show scintillating crystals on the top. the concept is..."time is always running away." thank you for your comment. i value your thoughful input. thanks.

I was trying to get pictures of my own hourglass, but it's a cheap thing that came with a game, you're is much more beautiful! It slightly disturbs me that it's not 100% vertical....but it's still beautiful.

All those nooks and crannies, this image kept me busy quite for while. The blue ,white and silver colors look really great together. The focus is interesting, it does lead my eye through the right path, from the top to the bottom of the pouring crystals/sand. Most interesting take on a simple item.

Very elaborate object, I like the shades of blue

Yvonne, thats exactly i was thinking. that is the reason for the play with dof and a bit of tilt. thanks for the comment.
Jano, Markjay (and Lee), you are the reason (encouraging comments on my earlier attempt) for motivating me to reshoot, even with the time constraints i had this weekend. thanks a lot. i am glad you liked the image.

This a dramatic improvement over the original version of this, Abstract! Could have named this one "Second Time Around" ;-)
