Really tugs at the heartstrings. Excellent job! ~ Lonnit
Rod 23-Oct-2005 04:00
Indeed it did Eric, well done mate.
ctfchallenge22-Oct-2005 22:18
Thanks for all your kind comments,I was trying to convey a message so it seems that may have happened.

Excellent. One of the rare times partial desaturations really works (and the explanation does its share too:) \Oved

a very intelligent interpretation of the theme and equally good execution. i like meaningful photographs. thanks for sharing a piece of your life, Eric. -Abstract

At the first glance this picture looked kind of messy to me, but the more I look at it the more I like it
ctfchallenge21-Oct-2005 16:04
LOL, Danny, then I will work on my outfit immediately :-) ~ Armin
Rod 21-Oct-2005 07:01
I get the hugs Armin because I look like Cary Grant........................or is it Danny DeVito I keep forgetting:-)
Guest 21-Oct-2005 05:39
I did , so i hope you got it before it was removed.

ctfchallenge21-Oct-2005 04:51
Hmpf, why is it always Rod to get all the hugs? :)
Eric, would you like to comment more on the origin and story of the background picture/....girl? ~ Armin
ctfchallenge20-Oct-2005 13:05
Well, I guess I am a bit of a peace-keeper. So you will have to put up with me making you hug and shake hands as well. Sometimes life is too short for crabbing on each other so I'd prefer to have a love-fest. As soon as I am logged off you can go back to bickering! HUGS! HEHEHE....Britt :)
Rod 20-Oct-2005 09:23
Britt, most of us enjoy not getting along, it's fun....................sort of:-)
ctfchallenge19-Oct-2005 14:40
I like the fabric much better in this one. Much less distracting. So is the flower. Now: Can't we all just get along? :)~ ~Britt

Hm, I rend to become sad, when I look at this photo - for one of course, that you get by far more comments than Rod and me even without an (*) ;-) ...secondly, from my former relationships in many cases not much is left...so my mood goes more into the blues. To me, it has a feeling of 'un-reachable' even enhanced by the girl's smile - BTW, like it much better with the new location of the flower. ~ Armin

Maybe I'm feeling lonely and looking forward to your slings and arrows.
eric
Rod 19-Oct-2005 08:29
You're all silly billys, our Eric didn't put an * & look wot happens, he gets more comments than me & Armin. I haven't seen Eric engage with other humans as much as this before so we should encourage him.
I like the new faded colour in the glass as this does represent the faded relationships your silly title eludes too. It's now a very good shot mate, well done
:-)
Guest 19-Oct-2005 07:01
I was looking at all broken or fading relationships and how sometimes you end up as enemies when once you were friends, sometimes ,I know, some people are never really friends in the first place but maybe have something else driving their relationship,I have tried to encompass most relationships eg. marriage,de facto , boyfriend, girlfriend, daughter /father, mother /son etc. so the idea is you look at it and apply your own spin, but primarily this image points at the good times, the honeymoon represented by the picture frame and the fading light and the dying rose.
cheers eric.

I liked both versions Thubleau. I usually like to comment after I have had time to really grasp the meaning of the photo. With your explanation, the intent was clear. This is a great shot with your interpretation. I think the title would be more evident of the subject matter something to the effect of "Faded Memories" or "Faded Love". With the intent you are projecting, I would also perhaps desaturate even more in B&W with the glass with this new photo. You definitely have something to say here and you've done well (sad) :( jano

The lower left corner, you mean the dead rose,or should I say the rose dying.
I was going to push that into the centre near the tower and I guess that is where it should be.

The desat makes the image more unusual than all color.....I like it! shu
ctfchallenge18-Oct-2005 15:32
It works well and I think the title is just fine. It is an original idea and I appreciate that. The lower left corner is a bit distracting, but the rest is right on. Yvonne

Don't listen to Rod :-)
Think it works, the only distraction to my eye is the blurry part of the down left flower - adds a kind of "noise" to me. ~ Armin

I'm beginning to think that Rod had a grumpy pill today. :::hugs::: The more I look at this picture the more I like it. It took me awhile to study what all was in it; I guess maybe it was the cloth that the frames are sitting on that was distracting me. But I am liking this more and more, the more time I spend on it. Normally I don't think there is anything wrong with descriptive titles if it's telling of a place, situation, etc. But if you are trying to tell a story, the picture should tell it all. I do agree with Rod on that. And I think this picture does that on it's own. In these challenge situations, somctimes it's hard to come up with titles. You get writer's block after spending so much gray matter on looking through the lens. So, be proud of your title, and your finished picture. Good job. ~Britt
ctfchallenge18-Oct-2005 08:48
Yes Rod,but the idea was that the gloss was fading as in a fading relationship, that was the thought I had in mind complete with the dust.
thubleau
Rod 18-Oct-2005 08:15
I know you only like comments if they're helpful Blue so with that in mind, descriptive titles for photos is silly............... One other thing, partial de-saturation is really a cliché that rarely works mate………Hope that was helpful:-)

Beautiful idea and execution!
