Can't make up my mind! but it does look better without the sign at the top.

Well, whichever way you go, it's a great shot.

Rod, I'm totally torn on this one - I like it equally both ways. I do think there's more impact without the sign, but I think there is more story with. ~ Lonnit

I think it's the darkness that makes this shot & gives the boys in the window much more power. The top sign weakens their presence, maybe like you say by giving balance. Time Life shots didn't particularly give balance, they gave impact.

Mary Anne just took the words right out of my mouth, again :) The defishing sounds like a good idea.

I think the top sign is needed to balance all the darkness at the bottom.

I like this one, it feels as if it was taken in the 50s. West Side Story..ish..

I can see a really good shot here as it is, but after the Time Life reference I cropped the top sign off again on me monitor & guess wot? ...........It really looked like a Time Life shot:-) It's a hard decision though.

I really like this one, Lonnit, and the way it tells a story. It has such a 50's look to it...reminds me of those wonderful Life Magazine photos.
Mary Anne, I too thought it had a retro look to it. I love story-telling shots but I feel so often my shots lack a story. I felt this one does have a tale, so I was happy about that. AS for any reference to _Life_Magazine_, well you sure know how to make someone's day! That's a heck-uv-a compliment! Thank you so much. :) It comes on the heels of someone saying yesterday that one of my shots looks like it could have been in the Photo Annual of _Creative_Arts_ magazine, which blew me away b/c my goal is to create image like those found there. So, wow, has this been an encouraging weekend for me! Thank you!!

Thanks Sharon & mystery person. :)

Lee, I had to do some serious defishing on this - the BW isn't hiding anything! LOL!

Rod, I think you might be right about the crop, OTOH, I do like the way the sign helps tell the story.

I like this one. I think the B&W hides some of the distortion from the fisheye. I did not even realize it was a fisheye until I looked at the bottom.

I REALLY like this shot! So full of character and really great in B&W.

Really good work Lonnit, I love the blacks & whites in this shot. The two kids add a great touch. I cropped out the sold here sign up top & the blacks & whites really snapped in & for a better focal point for me. Good onya girl.
