Now I can see some of it just above the bridge it must be the colour of the lower sky. I'm happy now:-)

You are seeing the horizon; the land is not a peninsula. You can see the land as it fades back into a haze and then above that is the sky. And yes, for some reason there does seem to be a lot of grain in that part of the sky.

I don't know why, there's grain in the sky,
I don't know why but there is.
I don't know why, there's no rain in the sky,
So I don't know why all the grain.

I really like the sky on this shot. Is that the water or sky just under the bridge? I think its water but it looks a little like the sky with too much grain. It's a shame we can't just see the horizon Very nice shot anyhow.
