Thousand Times *

A double challenge - to come up with a new idea (after seeing some here and thinking "why didn't I think of it?"), and to have both the coin and the 10000 Lireta note not too blurry :-)

Canon PowerShot S1 IS
1/4s f/8.0 at 5.8mm full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

OOPS, just saw my typo: coin size is 22mm not 12. \Oved

Abstract, the first setup you suggested had exactly the numbers I calculated! I had a test shot just before I read your last comment. The DOF was fine, but I was not satisfied with the disproportion. Might be because I had the composition changed too. I'll try again tomorrow, and then decide.

Oved, with this setup f/8, at 5.8mm...i would set camera in MF and set it to focus at 15in. put coin at 11in and note at 27in...finally, tight crop. i have tried that settings before and it should give you enough disproportion.
OR
set MF to hyperfocal distance about 33in and coin at 17in...note placement should not matter.

Thanks Pedro and Abs. Pedro, the coin diameter is 12mm (7/8"), the note 133X70mm. Abstarct, like you I have just mosedt equepment - I used a tripod with the S1 IS, set the money on a table and took numerous shots, light coming in through the windows. I now did some DOF calculations, and it seems that at the distance the coin was from the lens there was no way to get both in focus (Note to myself: calculations should be the first step, not after shooting:). I may try to shoot again if I have the chance, but I guess the disproportion won't be as pronounced with both inside the DOF. \Oved

oved, nice title and nice conceptual disproportion size/value. imho you should try to get coin more in focus though. -Abstract

What's the real size of the coin? I like the title.
