Sorry about the bad comment Andy. I was half asleep and the brain wasn't functioning well. What I really meant was that you had/have a lot of better photos than this one. This one is not bad at all. If you want to see bad photos just look at my entries :)
since there is no *, i did not comment earlier but seems you dont mind comments...so here i go.
whenever you reshoot, if you cant get closer, get a little lower...that will increase the cheese size, and will also eliminate the visual sense of depth perception (distance between cheese and mouse). -Abstract
Rod, I like your thinking and in a way ive got you fooled and in a way the shot isnt doing what its supposed to do. Its a very small bit of cheese and i couldnt get any closer without destroying the DOF. Hang on if theres any left ill go and measure the thickness......its about an inch thick and this bit is about half an inch high. What i actually need is something to give the size away. mmm maybe a reshoot..

You have a big advantage living in France where you can buy big cheeses. I wanted to do a shot like this, but down here we can only buy Kraft cheese slices:-) Nice shot mate, but I think if possible the cheese could be closer to the lens for a more disproportional look. It may bugger up the depth of field though. Maybe a crop would achieve that look.
