Any Colour *

I'm not too much of PF fan, except for listening to "The Wall" when I was younger. So this is what I came up with for the time being.

These are also Fruty Oh!s with MarshMallows, my son's favorite breakfast cereal (I prefer raisins and bran :o))

Hi Abs, it is a good idea and I may apply it on a future shot. I'm too lazy to reshoot this one. Just to think about the equipment I have to carry from my PC/Office room to my dining room for the shoot convinces me not to!

How about putting the camera on the table at 45-60 degree with horizonal (facing up) next to the bowl.
Pour the cereal out of the box in the bowl and get a high aperture/shallow dof shot of cereal?

You take you're life into your own hands eating that stuff. Nice image. Slightly confuding bg. I'd have gone for a more abstract look i think. Maybe an overhead or inclined with a clean bg. Nice thinking though.

I don't really know if they're better because I've never used an extender. But they are cheap and convenient. On the "con" side, you have to buy them for each lens size, or buy adapters, where the extension tubes should work with any lens. On the "pro" side, they are small and fit in a cramped bag.

Thanks Nugar :-) I know what you mean and how you feel about the re-shoot. I should've re-shot some of my entries but they just keep piling up. It's nice you can use those filters on the Tamron and stack them up like that. Concering picture quality, I was wondering if those are better than using an Extender? . Other than the 100mm I work with, the kit lens is the only lens we have. I like the Tamron but looking at the Sigma 18-50 as an alternative to the kit and EF-S 17mm - 85mm lenses because would like something wide enough for indoor shots. We'll see how the new Sigma and Tamron 18-200 fair up.

Techo: now that you say it, yes I would also take the OOF green bit out. Although I don't think I'll reshoot :o)

Shu: Yup, I'll try and straighten the horizon here. I wonder why it is more difficult to spot those details on our own images?

Techo: the closeup lenses are like filters, but they have magnification. You screw them on your lens and you can stack them. What they do is shorten the minimum focusing distance of your lens. For example, my Tamron has a minimum focusing distance of about 1 foot, but with the closeup lenses I can get closer. The caveat is that you lose DOF.

What a very pleasant deja vu. One of my favorite photos from the first challenge I entered, CTF 54 :-)

This photo has the beatiful color and detail but in a warmer more natural setting. The only thing I would change is remove that little OOF green piece of cereal in the front. And I was wondering what those +1, +2, +4 closeup lenses are? Thanks :-)
