Running Late *

Holyoke, Massachusetts USA

I didn't tilt this in post-processing...slant is the result of swinging around quickly to catch him running up the stairs. However, I can't decide whether I prefer this one or the straightened image. Any opinions? Here's the other version: http://www.pbase.com/maryanne16/image/41129949

At least this one tells a story. :) It's interesting. Maybe not the world's best shot, but it's got substance to it; it makes you think about what's going on. ~ Lonnit

Has all necessary elements put together in a good composition. If it were mine, I wouldn't mind loosing the empty wall of the building on the top part of the picture -Cat

Lee, thanks for your suggestion. I finally got around to cropping out the bottom of the left railing. I think it looks better this way.

Well done Mary Ann I like this this shot a lot. I wouldn't worry even if you tilted this in PS, as we all post process. I hope to see you doing more edgy shots in the future.

I like this one better also. But, one thing I like about the other one is that you can not see the end of the handrail on the left side. I would crop that out.

Max and Rich, thanks for your feedback. That's my feeling also, but I don't usually do "edgy" shots like this and wasn't sure this one was working the way I had intended. I wanted to convey that sense of anxiety and uncertainty and thought the diagonal presentation might be a better way of doing that. When you've been taking pictures as long as I have, breaking away from conventional shots is not easy to do.
