Nice. Real simple and appealing.

you have an amazing eye for identifying shot potential in very common subjects. like the concept. -Abstract

You guess it right! And when I get it done, I'll let you know :-) -Cat.

So, one day you'll come upon a cloth one and I know what you'll do immediately. :) ~ Lonnit

Thanks Lonnit, I am really sorry about the dirt. I understand perfectly, I would have taken the time and cleaned it, but early this week (unrelated to photgraphy) we had a production server crash at work and you know how it goes after that... About the real cloth flag idea, I searched 4-5 shops for a cloth flag before I settled on the bumper sticker, but no luck. My 4th July one is also in a bad shape. I told one of my friends to get me a cloth one ... but anyway... yes cloth was my initial thought too. Without the texture its no fun :-) -Cat

I like the composition. The dirt is driving me nuts though! LOL! I'd love to see this replicated with a real flag. Excellent new take on a very done subject. ~ Lonnit

I am glad you liked it Richard and Shu. Rod, the orignal was muted and subdued (as the bumper sticker is old and kinda faded) Here is the link if you want to comparehttp://www.pbase.com/photocat/image/41010834 -Cat

I didn't see the original but this nearly blinded me when it loaded:-)

Photocat... Much much better with the vibrant colours!
Shu20-Mar-2005 05:38
WOW! Stars, triangles and stripes forever!!!!

Thanks you all for the comments. I'll see what I can do. I'll make the changes and upload again. The bumper sticker is quite old, faded and dirty (even after cleaning) and has some scratches too, so I was intending to preserve the look. -Cat

I agree with Richard. Just make the colors more vivid and you've got a perfect "on topic" image. A really unique way of looking at the flag. Shu

Photocat... You could make this photo much much better with a little post-processing.
I feel it lacks contrast and the colours appear to be a little washed out. I would use "selective color" in PS and bring out the red and blues to make them more vibrant.
Otherwise a lovely example of diagonals... Shooting a square flag at an angle is something few people ever think of doing to produce a unique composition.

I would crop it so the blue was dead center or hard to the left corner. Just a thought. theFly
