Dec 04 Abstract

3rd Place
Time *

London, UK

I intentionally used slower shutter speed (used ND-4 filter & circular polarizer w/ parallel axis to help get it) to show human movement through time.
In the photograph, clocks are crystal clear which shows its absoluteness and color increases its importance.
Humans are walking which conveys we are just travellers through the time. A bit blurriness, soft focus and greyness portrays our insignificance relative to the infinite (sort of) "time".
I am glad I could achieve exactly what I wanted (when I shot it) in the final result.

Nice find. I rarely like selective desaturation, but this one is spot on

Thanks Tom, Lonnit and srf_cast.
srf_cast, I just took a little different approach.
Instead of making person/people my main subject, in this street shot I used collective body language (walking pass "time") of people(not posing, hence candid) to convey the message. I was kind of afraid of this sort of comment, so I preemptively added the concept of this shot with reasons for using selective saturation.

This is a very nice photo. The only complain I have is that it’s more of a clock scene than a candid street shot. Srf_Cast

I like your concept. I think much more people blur would convey it better. The people are still too sharp. I do like the selective colorization in this particular shot. You were only a fraction of a second away from perfecting this shot. ;) ~ Lonnit

Man, I'm always looking for a clock... why would they put so many in one place! I really like this treatment, good work! - Tom
