* Girl's Best Friend

I took this shot on X-mas along with a few others of DJ, my sister's family dog. He was getting old and I knew he wouldn't have too much longer so I wanted to capture a nice shot of him and frame it for them. My timing was just incredible. Just the other day I got a call from my sister that he woke in the middle of the night, deathly ill and had to be put to sleep the next morning. I hadn't even gotten the chance to bring her the framed print. Now it will indeed be more special. He was the sweetest dog. DJ, you'll be missed.

A touching story, Lonnit. It really underscores one of the reasons (perhaps the most important reason) we are all drawn to making photographs. It's a beautiful shot, and the composition and tone told me it was yours even before I scrolled down to the name.

The close crop works for me. I agree with Abstract that we can't see the beautiful face - but Lonnit, you left us just enough to convey the whole feeling without distraction. Good hand. - Walt

Yeah, his eye is being pulled a bit by her face leaning on the skin near it, giving him that sort of helpless look. ~ Lonnit

The poor dog looks like it's being strangled............Sad story though.

normally, i dont like pets shots but this is just beautiful. i wish i could see her beautiful face a little more...at least her jaw line. without it, the smile looks kind of incomplete. -Abstract
