This is a replica of the 1936 Pacific National Exhibition Jubilee
Parade float for Sheet Metal Worker's Union Local 280. The original
rocket was displayed at Vancouver's airport entrance until 1972. The
current 1986-built statue commemorates the city's centennial and the
Expo 86 World's Exposition, and "is a symbol of the role played by
craftsmanship and transportation in the growth of Vancouver."
