My home is just half a block from an incredibly beautiful, temperate rainforest in British Columbia, Canada. This is where I spend as much time as possible, exploring the wonders that nature has to offer. I don't worry about the bears and cougars lurking nearby. I simply enjoy the beauty. This is where I go to forget about the outside world. This is me Now. More photos from my forays into the forest can be seen at http://www.pbase.com/tracyferrero/harrisonstrails
The photo downunder is from the beautifully presented book 'The Great South Land' by reknowned Australian photographer Ken Duncan. It shows the sunrise over the ocean from North Avoca Beach on the Central Coast of N.S.W. Australia. My childhood home was as close to these particular rocks, as the rainforest is now. I spent my toddler years splashing in nearby rockpools, and my teenage years jumping off the rock in the middle of the photo. We didn't worry about the sharks. I witnessed many such 'tequila sunrises' at the end of an all night jam session with friends on the beach. This is me Then. Mr. Duncan has kindly given his permission to use his photo in this challenge. More of his work can be seen at http://www.kenduncan.com
I have now spent more than half my life in Canada, and with the exception of overly long winters, I love all that it has to offer. However, Australia is in my blood, and I will always call Australia home. Perhaps one day, I'll go back home to live. Perhaps one day, I'll be half as good a photographer as Mr. Duncan.
