Squid on a Stick*

Not your usual popsicle.
Stuck in an orange for ballast and color.

Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments. You can buy squid-on-a-stick in many places in Hong Kong... costs about US$0.75. I've learned that some people think this is raw -- it's not. The squid is boiled first, as is octopus in Japanese restaurants. Raw squid and octopus have gray skin and translucent flesh... when boiled, the skin becomes orange (squid) or purple (octopus) and the flesh white, firm and chewy. Octopus is wonderful with wasabi and squid like this with the brown sauce (not HP Brown Sauce, either).

I sure would like to try it. I love squid and octopuss. Over here in Panama, we have a dish with octopuss made with coconut milk. Scrump-delicious!!!!

This is really eye catching, not sure I want to try it, but very interesting shot. The lighting, colors and textures (and of course the "what is that" factor) work together.
