Birdland*

Palo Alto Baylands, California

Manhattan Tranfer's big hit.

Many birds frequent this island, but I never photograph them because it is so far from the shore. I made an exception for these pelicans landing.

Thanks, Paul. I've never heard the original version of the song. --Garrett

Terrific image, very apt title. Have to give proper credit to the original source for "Birdland:" Joe Zawinul and Weather Report. Although I do like the MT version as well.

Thanks for your comment, Neil. There are other differences, too. The first thing I noticed in your pelican photo was that the eyes were huge and the bill didn't look integrated into the face. I like these American White Pelicans better. --Garrett

Definately lots of birds. Your pelicans have a lot more white than our Australian Pelicans
